Overview
The UF/IFAS Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) advances the research, instruction, and Extension mission of UF/IFAS by providing expert support in grants and contracts administration. Our work focuses on two key areas:
- Post Award Management – serving the overall UF/IFAS research enterprise
- Sponsored Programs Research Service Center – providing full-lifecycle research administration for a subset of IFAS units, departments, and RECs

Post Award Management
- Train, coach, and mentor staff on research administration
- Provide guidance, support, and training for principal investigators (PIs) and project staff
- Advise unit leaders, faculty, and staff on research administration and related compliance matters
- Lead conflict resolution and problem solving on award issues
- Provide sponsored programs data to assist in strategic planning, decision-making, and financial management
- Work closely with the IFAS proposal team to ensure best outcomes for principal investigators for proposals and awards
- Build and sustain a research administration “community of practice”
- Provide “bridge” services

Sponsored Programs Research Service Center
For units that opt in, we support faculty and PIs with full-lifecycle administration for proposals and awards.
- Proposal development, budget preparation, review, and submission
- Interpretation of university and sponsor policies
- Liaison to Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP), Contracts & Grants Accounting (C&G), and other core offices
- Award management and reporting
- Compliance
- Funding projections and balances
- Award closeout
